Leaving Minico

At the behest of my lovely wife, here are some pictures of the last day of school at Minico. I am really going to miss those students. They were all so fun and so spiritually mature that they made coming to work everyday a true joy. Pictured are some of the most amazing and most ridiculous kids you will ever meet. We miss Idaho!!

This was a super fun class- 2nd hour

This picture has a funny story behind it. To make a long story short,  there is a little  Mexican  restaurant about 15 miles north of Rupert-smack dab in the middle of nowhere- that all of my students swear by.  They tried to tell me how to get there all semester, but after 2 prior unsuccessful attempts, Christine and I were ready to quit. However, as it was the last day of school, we thought we might give it a try, so we went and finally found the mysterious "Penny's", aka "The Luncheria", aka "Norleans" aka, "It doesn't really have an official name,  it is just that place by the 'blue house'". Seriously! When we finally-amazingly, miraculously- found it, low and behold we found about 20 of my students, mostly sophomores, there eating. I, of course, was greeted with a standing ovation at my mere presence...

Shoshone Falls

Just wanted to post some pics from our last Idaho outing before we moved.  We went to Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls.  Don't be deceived by the name, the locals pronounce it "show-shone" which we found entertaining.  We were pleasantly surprised by how huge and beautiful it was.  This was part of our Idaho Farewell tour which included going to all of our favorite places including my favorite--Gossners Magic Valley Chalet Ice Cream!!  After going to the Falls we went to the State All-Star Football game to watch some of Alec's student play which was a lot of fun even though Reid didn't even make it through the first quarter:)

Memorial Day

So this memorial day we decided since we were in Idaho we would go to my grandpa's grave.  I hadn't been to that spot since his funeral in 1996.  It was about a 2 hour drive to Idaho Falls where the cemetery was and though I knew the name of the cemetery I was planning on calling my grandma  or using gps when we got close so I could find the spot.  As fate would have it, on the way there was a huge thunderstorm and the batteries in both of our phones died so when we got there we had no idea where to go and the road that we were supposed to take was closed because it was covered in water.  What happened next was a complete miracle.  We just happened to find someone who knew exactly where the cemetery was and gave us amazing directions.  Then we got to the cemetery and saw how huge it was and my heart just sank but we said a prayer and asked God to help us and it was like I knew exactly where to look and we found the grave right away.  It was a really sweet experience for all of us to be there together and for Reid to "see Grandpa". Most of all it was a reminder to me that God is so aware of each of us. 

Kearns family update!

I have been the worst at keeping in touch with everyone the last few months so I will just fill you all in with what's been going on in our lives.  Alec was hired by the LDS church to be a seminary teacher in December and was placed out in Rupert, ID.  It has been quite the adventure.  Reid has become obsessed with tractors, imagine that.:)  After our brief stint here, we are moving (again) in a few weeks to Medford, OR where Alec will be teaching at two high schools and overseeing the early morning seminaries in southern Oregon and northern California.  I feel like we are on a mission and keep getting transferred.  But we are excited for this new adventure and being in the Northwest again.  We have really missed the green of home.  Reid is 19 months now and has just started nursery at church.  He loves it but of course mommy is the one who has a hard time.:)  He is really starting to talk even more and every day is more fun than the one before.  I am just trying to keep up with my boys.  Life is good and we are loving every minute of it.

anniversary!!

Just wanted to post a few pics. In August Alec and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary. Can you believe it?? We didn't do anything fancy this year just went out to dinner but it was a really sweet day.

semiannual update

I realized with conference coming i haven't updated this blog for at least six months and since there is a very small chance that some of you are still reading it i thought i would tell you a little bit about what is going in our lives right now. First of all we will be celebrating Reid's FIRST BIRTHDAY this week (pictures to come). He is so big now and has started to walk recently. He doesn't like to do it unless we are not looking but he's getting pretty good at it. he also has a new found love of sesame street--elmo in particular. he loves to dance to music and has this adorable little bounce that he does. He is really becoming a little boy and hardly seems like a baby anymore. he is such a busy little boy and he keeps me busy all day chasing him.:) Alec is teaching LDS seminary at Timpview High School in Provo and is really loving it. He teaches 3 different classes which is about 80 0r 90 kids. it's fun for me to hear about everything he learns, both about the scriptures and about the kids. he is finishing up his last class at BYU and we are both so excited for him to graduate in a few months! My brother Rhett is here on a medical school rotation and we are loving having him here and being able to spend time with him for the next month or so. We feel so blessed in every way and just love every minute we get to spend as a family.

Seven hundred and twenty-seven. That's how many days alec and i have been together. Literally. Today is the 2 year anniversary of when we started dating and we have been together ever since. no breaks or break ups. just together. the only time we ever have been apart since that day were the three days alec spent in ohio for his best friend's wedding in 2009. but for the other 727 days we have been together. I just wanted to post some pics of some of our favorite days.
